2007 Chapter Pride Patch Recipients
Anne Bailey has been a member of the Chapter since 2003 and recently stepped up to assume
a larger role within the Chapter as Road Captain. She's one of just a handful of female
road captains the Chapter has had in its 20 year run. She and her husband have volunteered
their personal time to assist new riders in the Chapter by taking them on a small
group ride so they can become accustomed to the experience of riding in staggered
formation. Her willingness and patience to help others enjoy their motorcycle and fully
embrace the biker lifestyle is what makes her such an asset to the Chapter. This road
captain is our resident "wine snob" and ultimate shopper, but always gives of
herself without being asked, and graciously agrees to lead a last minute ride.
Dave Decker joined the Chapter in 2000 and was quick to become a hit with the members.
It didn't take him long before he decided he wanted to be more involved and volunteered
to become the Chapter Activities "guy." In that role he instituted the wine tasting
event which gave us something to do in the gray days of winter. We would be found caravanning
through the Shawangunk Wine Trail tasting local vintages. This activity has become
a non-riding favorite with the membership and has morphed from driving to the various,
individual wineries to meeting at one winery and tasting various wines. This person went
even further with his HOG experience and stepped up to being the Chapter Treasurer
and eventually became a Road Captain. You can find him flipping burgers at the Chapter
picnics, volunteering to lead and plan rides, and is always available to help out in a
pinch. His quick smile and warm, welcoming attitude make him an "all-around nice
guy" which is the foundation of our membership.
Tim Donnelly joined the Chapter in 2004. Although it took him a while to become comfortable
enough to volunteer as a Chapter road captain, he has consistently participated in various
Chapter activities, and is quick to volunteer to help out where needed. You can find him
leading and planning Chapter rides, offering ideas to change up an old activity to put
a new twist on the event, searching for new and different destinations, and helping new
riders gain confidence by riding with them in the back of the pack. He has great enthusiasm
for the sport and encourages others to get involved.
Joe Genther joined the Chapter in 2003 and quickly became an enigma within
the group. It didn't take him long to realize what a great group we are, and he jumped
right in to volunteer his time by becoming a Road Captain. His attention to detail has
made for some memorable rides and great times. He's the type of guy that would do anything
for anyone, including giving you the shirt off his back. He's the guy who knocks on
your hotel room door to bring you aspirin and an ace bandage when you break your ankle
dancing the night before. He's the guy who brings a fruit basket or flowers by the house
to cheer you up and show he's thinking about you. He'll surprise you by buying dinner
or lunch without ever saying a word or expecting anything in return. He takes the most abuse
of any member and continues to smile through it all. He has an infectious personality
and an unsurpassed joy for life and laughter. This award isn't about attendance points
or mileage, its about caring and sharing and family which are traits this person possesses.
This is what being a Woodstock H.O.G. member is all about.
Congratulations to all of you!
